Pursuing Purity In an Perverse World...

Trying to pure in these days is very very difficult. There is a massive temptation of lust that is out there in the world. In my own strength to be pure, i struggle because "Although the Spirit is willing, the flesh is weak." But by God's grace and the Holy Spirit i am able to withstand and walk the walk. God is so good. I do not know what i would do without Jesus Christ. He is my good Shepherd, and as that Shepherd he leads me in green pastures, places of refuge and safety. A couple of weeks ago, i taught Proverbs 7 to my discipleship group about avoiding sexual immorality. God really ministered to me as i studied the passage. I have found out that we need to be alert, aware, and then avoid worldliness when its at the door (see Proverbs 5:8 and 7:). What a good concept huh? Its a good one because its Biblical.

Alert
1. "Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation."
(1 Thessalonians 5:6-8)

Aware
1. "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." (1 Peter 5:8)

Avoid
"Do not enter the path of the wicked, And do not walk in the way of evil.Avoid it, do not travel on it; Turn away from it and pass on." (Proverbs 4:14-15)
"
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world." (Titus 2:11-13)

When we do these three things, i fine it easier to resist temptation and persist steadfastly towards the Lord!
