Traveling Through the Davidic Era of the Old Testament

The last five months I have had the privilege to sit under the teaching of Dr. Jeff Mooney at California Baptist University. It has been a great time traveling through the Old Testament as my last class journeyed through the Pentateuch (Genesis - Deuteronomy) and the Deuteronomistic History (Joshua - 2 Kings). There has been so much ground to cover that at some times my head hurts with all the information that I am downloading and trying to process in the historical and cultural context of Scripture as an Ancient Near East document written roughly in the time frame of 2000 BC to 586 BC. Nevertheless, it is a good hurt, because my mind is being filled with the knowledge of the Word.

I am currently going through the Latter Prophets and Writings which consummates the canon of the Hebrew Bible. In our class, we only go through the books in the Hebrew canon (order) compared to the Septuagint (LXX) and English Bible. Dr. Mooney does a great job to show us why they are in this order and how they should be read in this order because they are communicating God's message to his people in this canonical sequence. We have been placing the prophets in 1 & 2 Kings and 1 & 2 Chronicles to see when they were preaching their prophetic messages to Israel. It has been exciting!

Soon i will be posting some cool notes.
